Vectrus Telecommunications Technician, Lead in Kuwait

The Telecommunications Tech Lead will direct the work of others and ensure tasks are completed per industry standard and within Company policies. The Lead will design, install, troubleshoot and maintain company telecommunication systems and adjunct equipment. Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the concepts and procedures associated with best practices in the telecommunication field and provide training on telecommunication equipment and systems.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1.Provide supervision for the junior telecom technicians and give guidance while working in the field.
2.Oversees the daily operations of work assignments for the Outside Plant / Inside Plant personnel.
3.Resolve or troubleshoot problems and/or issues which may occur with any type of installation.
4.Able to use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action.
5.Respond to emergency service requests affecting all communication systems.
6.Able to understand flow charts, equipment manuals and technical documentation.
7.Ensures extensive contact with the Telecommunication Engineer and the Subsurface Engineer.
8.Ensures all team members are aware of their responsibilities and that they provide communications support to the COR and ASG Kuwait.
9.Must possess excellent customer service skills.
10.Ensure all safety rules and regulations are followed by the team.
11.Performs other duties and assignments as required.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
The following tools will be used: Fusion splicer, telephone monitoring equipment, fiber optic cable, copper cable, power tools, TDR, etc.
The working environment is mostly outside of the office with exposure to extreme temperatures. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. PPE includes but not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all fire and Safety regulations and posted policies.
Work may require heavy lifting up, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and working with or in areas where potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.
Education / Certifications:
College degree or Equivalent
Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) Certification or equivalent.
1.Approximately 3-5 years’ work experience in the telecommunication field, installing, trouble shooting, repair, splicing, terminating and site surveys.
2.Knowledgeable in the use of power tools and test equipment.
3.Knowledgeable in reading drawing and understanding the communication installation process.
4.Knowledgeable to act on unique or recurring customer problems.
Must be a U.S. Citizen, have a valid Secret Clearance and be able to maintain or obtain one, Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and oral, completed a Customer Service training course and DOD Information Assurance Awareness Trained.
Will lead a team of approximately 8-12 personnel.
