Under thegeneral supervision of the CRSP Supervisor, Customs Clearing Agent provide Customs clearance of allUS Government Owned Goods coming into and out of theatre and ensure that theymeet all applicable laws.Provideguidance to customer for effective clearance methods while complying with localCustoms laws and regulations. This job also requires you to liaise with officials in variousagencies to ensure goods are cleared through customs. You will alsoarrange for transportation, warehousing or product distribution of imported orexported goods and liaise with Freight Forwarders.


1.Responsible forproviding necessary approvals for the Customs exemption of all US Military andGovernment Owned goods, import and export, in accordance with the DefenseCooperation Agreement.This effortentails screening documents for errors, confirming compliance with CustomsClearance regulations, and obtaining approvals from ASG-Kuwait and KuwaitGeneral Administration of Customs.

2.Authorize theclearance of express carriers (DHL, FedEx, and UPS) parcel shipments and verifycontents of trucks at location.Employeeis required to be at the site of delivery, Camp Arifjan, Ali Al-Salem Air Baseand Camp Buehring, to verify that the shipments delivered are destined to a USMilitary installation in Kuwait with no discrepancies.

3.Employee isrequired to be fully conversant with local laws and regulations.Must maintain understanding and keepup-to-date with changes as they occur, so as to be able to advise customers onimport and export restrictions, new requirements and all other customs relatedmatters.

4.Liaise withshipping agents when necessary to conform requirements for AK302-1 approval areto standard.

5.Notify customers ofapproval of AK302-1 Forms and arrange for collection.For customers without base access,arrangements have to be made to hand documents at an off-post location.

6.Provide customerwith tracking of clearance progress.Enquire about any delays or disapproval of Customs clearance.

7.Maintain a databaseof all AK302-1 Forms processed and delivered to customer.Daily entry of shipment details is requiredto have visibility of all import and export shipments granted Customsexemption.

8.Maintain functionalfiles under ARIMS filing system.

9.Performs other duties as assigned.


Personal computer, printers, network equipment and othergeneral office equipment. Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to include manualand self powered lifts.


Work is generally conducted in an indoorsenvironment; however, duties may involve the conduct of work outdoors to verifyshipments and/or preform clearance of shipments. Work will require working withor in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical orbiological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) isrequired in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot,hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must complywith OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published company work rules.


Some lifting of up to 50 lbsmight be required, prolonged sitting and working with or in areas where apotential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.


Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted forone year of education, if degree is required.

High school Diploma is required.

Must have valid statesidesdrivers license in able to obtain a Kuwait Drivers Licence (KDL).


Twoyears experience in Customs Clearing Agent orfreight forwarding operations.


1.Strong communication skills are vital in this role both writtenand verbally, as you will be required to compile documentation and you must beable to interpret Customs laws and regulations on behalf of customers in aclear and simple manner.

2.Excellent interpersonal skills are required in the role of CustomsClearing Agent as you will be dealing with various agencies in the course ofyour daily work.

3.Complex problem solving and the ability to engage criticalthinking skills will be required as well as the ability to actively listen andinterpret concisely.

4.Knowledge of Arabic language is advantageous.

5.Knowledge of computers and relatedsoftware including spreadsheets, word processing, and windows.

6.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports anddocuments.
